Wideband and High Gain Array Antenna for 5G Smart Phone Applications Using Frequency Selective Surface

This work presents an eight element array antenna with single layer frequency selective surface (FSS) to obtain high gain. The elements are fed by port. FSS consists of 14x6 unit cells one cell size is 5×5 mm2 having wideband behavior. uses Rogers RT Duroid 5880 substrate and giving very wide bandwidth from 20 GHz 65 GHz, covering mm-wave 5G bands (including 28 38 60 GHz). designed showing stop band transmission characteristics below -10 dB threshold 25 42 59 61 GHz. integrated the reflector, which results improvement in gain level 12 15 at 10 9.5 11 dimensions 33×27×0.787 mm3. proposed shows stable directional radiation patterns. simulation findings experimentally confirmed, testing fabricated prototypes system.
